About
Synth News is an independent outlet covering synthesizers and electronic music production: hardware, modular, software and sound design. This page sets out who publishes the site, how its articles are made and what we commit to. It is a public statement, and it binds us.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Our mission
We publish synthesizer and electronic music production news, and the context needed to make sense of it. We do not aim to publish first, but to be accurate first. Incomplete reporting can wait; false reporting has to be corrected.
The site is written for readers who want to know what is happening and why it matters, without having to separate a press release from a verified fact.

Our sections
The site is organised into thematic sections. Each one gathers every article that belongs to it, newest first.
- News — manufacturer announcements, firmware updates, trade shows and prices, rewritten to help you decide: who it is for, what it costs, what it competes with.
- Synthesizers — hardware synthesizers, polyphonic, monophonic and vintage: architecture, sound, price and competition.
- Modular — Eurorack, semi-modular and modules: what each module does, how to build a system, what it costs.
- Software — synth plugins, virtual instruments and updates: what they bring compared with hardware and with each other.
- Sound Design — synthesis techniques, sound recipes and tutorials: understand a sound so you can make it yourself.
- Guides — comparisons, buying guides and where to start: choosing an instrument without regrets.
Editorial standards
Accuracy over speed
A story is published once it is established. Until then it is presented for what it is: a rumour, an unconfirmed announcement, a hypothesis. Hedged wording is not a stylistic habit — it is a statement about how certain we are.
Sources
We work from manufacturers’ official announcements and from specialist publications. A claim that cannot be cross-checked is not presented as established.
Independence
No advertiser, partner or industry player has any say over our content. Articles are never reviewed by a third party before publication. Sponsored content, where it exists, carries an explicit label at the top of the article.
Updates
Articles carry a publication date and, where relevant, a last-updated date. When the underlying facts change, the article is updated.
Accessibility
The site is built to stay usable with a keyboard, with a screen reader and on a phone. Meaningful images carry alternative text, embedded videos never autoplay, and text contrast meets WCAG 2.1 level AA.
Artificial intelligence
Synth News uses artificial-intelligence tools in its editorial production. Everything published remains the responsibility of the publisher.
The newsroom
Simon Janvier — founder and publication director. A former live sound and lighting engineer turned studio technical director, he lived through the shift from analogue gear to computer-based music production from the inside. After a spell in marketing at Playback.fr, he follows electronic instrument news every day and writes for readers who want to understand before they buy.
Every article is signed, and the author page lists everything its author has written: all articles by Simon Janvier.
Reusing our content, including by AI systems
Text published on Synth News is protected by copyright. Short quotations are allowed on the usual terms: a brief excerpt, quotation marks, the name of the site and a link to the original article.
Full or substantial reproduction, translation and adaptation require prior written permission. This applies to human reuse and to the building of training corpora or the generation of answers by automated systems alike: the absence of a technical blocking mechanism is not permission.
An automated system that reproduces our content must name Synth News and provide a link to the source page.

Transparency and independence
Synth News will be funded by display advertising, once it has built an audience. Ad placements are handled by third-party networks; we have no advance knowledge of the ads displayed and take no editorial instruction from them.
Affiliate links, where they exist, are disclosed in the article. The “See at Thomann” links are, at this stage, plain links to the retailer, with no affiliate arrangement and no tracking parameter: the site earns nothing on those purchases. How we handle your data and advertising consent is set out in our privacy policy.
